After 60 memorable years of outstanding television the ABC studios in Ripponlea, Melbourne have now closed. To celebrate the end of an era John Fish was commissioned to produce ‘The Dream Factory’ a multi-media performance exploring ‘the mind and memories of the ABC’.

The brief was essentially to ‘get inside the creative head of the ABC’. John Fish worked closely with the ABC’s creative, technical and archive departments to piece this rich story together. The Dream Factory came to life with projected hallucinatory visions via a large light installation. These ‘memories’ fired off via laser ‘synapses’ to a series of multi-layered screens presenting snippets of TV produced by ABC Melbourne. Set in the iconic Studio 31 this complex project ran for half an hour and included fully synchronised lighting, soundscape, lasers and multiple projections.
